Because No Other Industry Can Make a Boy's Dreams Come True Before this summer, hockey player Sean Avery was known as a tough guy on the ice, a party boy off it (lately with his very own VIP area at the Beatrice Inn), and a ladies' man to boot (Elisha Cuthbert, Rachel Hunter). But what Avery—who told an ESPN camera crew that he grew up playing with dolls—really wanted to do was…intern at Vogue. No word on how many coffees he actually fetched for editors during his much-publicized stint at the fashion magazine, but credit him with starting a trend. Now another modest chap, Kanye West, is gunning for his own fashion internship, and according to the blogosphere, only a post at Louis Vuitton or Jil Sander will do.

RULES OF STYLE: TOM FORD The designer, film director, and all-around agent provocateur on the luxury of silence, the problem with short suit jackets, and why you should ignore your sexual orientation at least once.

1 I don’t believe in playing around much with suit cuts. I like a fairly classic shape that gives a man strong shoulders, a fitted waist, and long legs. Classic simplicity always works.

2 Someone who is secure enough to be very present when relating to another person is sexy. In other words, a good listener always lands who he wants.

3 When mixing patterns, don’t think about it too much—just throw it together.

4 I hate the trend of short suit jackets. When a man’s butt is showing below the bottom of his jacket, I think it makes him look like a female flight attendant from the back—not my idea of sexy.

5 With jewelry, I actually like bracelets more than anything else, but they have to be small and simple. Cary Grant always wore a simple gold bracelet with his watch, and I think that was very chic.

6 If you’re careful not to overuse Botox, then yes, why shouldn’t you use it? A little bit of it between the brows can make you look less stern and more approachable. Who needs to frown, anyway?

7 Just like girls need to learn to be comfortable in heels before they go out in them for the first time, a man should try wearing a suit throughout a normal day. I do most things in a suit—and sometimes even in a tuxedo—and so I’m really comfortable in one.

8 When it comes to grooming, keep earwax out of the ears and keep stray hairs and flakes of skin in check and you should be good to go. In the morning, I put ice cubes on my eyes and use lots of Visine.

9 Time and silence are the most luxurious things today.

10 There’s one indulgence every man should try in his lifetime: If you’re straight, sleep with a man at least once, and if you’re gay, don’t go through life without sleeping with a woman. Either way, you might be surprised at how natural it will feel if you can get past the mind-fuck of stereotypes. In the end, it’s just another person that you are relating to in a physical way.

Dreaming for a Dita

I LIK
E!

I knew Dita simply by dropping a stranger at facebook a message. I tend to do that a lot when I feel that a certain stranger can provide me with info. Again, the void of physical form and emotions in the net world causes me (and everyone else, perhaps) to be un-shy and extrovert. If you don't ask, you don't know. Thanks to "People You May Know", my frame fetish went to another level.

Old stuff, just posting these for my own reference. Rami came in second during the fourth season of Project Runway. I prefer his final collection over Siriano's.

Its Sew Fun!

Yes. I had fun using the machine.

I was discouraged (slightly) earlier today, during the class because I had to side-sew (jahit tepi, dont know whats the term in english) and although I practiced gazillion times beforehand, I suck. Haha. The instructor told me last week that I can just send it (the pieces) to a tailor and get it done... its cheap and it saves time and of course, a better finishing.

But then again I told myself that this is a learning stage and I myself want to understand things, logics and make mistakes. I rather have something that will be a 'nostalgia-producing' memento and that I can smile and be 'slightly embarassed' at and say "thats my first outfit that was fully sewn by me". So there. (Cheh, so drama)

I do think that I can make a lot of shit if I have one at home. (I have one already, but its old and need some repairing. I rather keep that for home deco purpose ;P )

Maybe Ill get one soon. It felt therapeautic, sewing.

Me love.

*MIFA is happening next week. I dont know if there will be invites coming in for layout designers (wishful thinking) to attend any of the shows. Haha. Im not a fan of being an event attendee and I dont dig stuff from local designers (yes, I admit. some are great though) but I feel like going for a show or two just to observe the pieces. so semangat, me.

*I need to hit the cinema soon!

*Readin Chuck Klostermans "A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas". Some articles are nice and some are not. Im lost most of the time due to the fact that it is heavily filled with stuff that Im not familiar with, but I read it anyway. I like the way he writes. I still have some books, fresh and virgin still from the MPH sale few weeks ago.

*Im longing for another trip. Bangkok was fun (yes it was) but I need a relaxation type of getaway now. My boss has been feeding me sites to several locations (local and outside... outside meaning Thailand - budget y'all). I told my cousin about planning a road trip to Kuantan since his parents just erected a house near to a beach (its not a beach house i think, hence my phrase). That would be a quick and short getaway. But we have not set a date yet since Im out of cash.

*I feel like picking up photography once again. I might get a DSLR for myself once the bonus hit me. MIGHT. (shit, and sewing machine? wtf) Yes, I might. A better compact camera is another option, since I dont have to worry about bulk when travelling around. (so many things to buy!)

I was watching 'Normal' and I thought Zegers is a more deep-thinking, troubled, weed-inhaling version of Zac Efron. I didn't finish the movie though, too slow and I got bored easily nowadays. My attention span (the long one) was taken away. Haha.
