Bear with It!

So I was resting at home and got hold of the remote and minutes after my usual aimless channel surfing, I decided to watch Man Vs Wild. It reminds me so much of Into The Wild. I am loving nature more and more I guess. A perfect example of someone making money being in his own field, using his skills acquired from experiences that some might not even thought might make someone rich. It's useful furthermore, and practical. Yes, the show is slightly pre-planned and all, but then it is the purpose of the show to educate the audience, no? I like how logical things are when he explains why he's doing this and that and why being on this spot might be safer than being over there. Shit like this fascinates me. Personality and character-wise, I think this dude is awesome. His background and all, I wish I had those. Its great to know that he is a motivational speaker as well. The way he overcome things and stuff, those are motivational... If only Im able to watch the series on a regular basis. Knowledge gained might not be useful in the environment I'm in, but a knowledge is a knowledge. Its not a burden (at all) to have some.

Man and Wives

This suddenly popped out of my mind while I was watching Desperate Housewives few days ago.

Kyle McLachlan, Marcia Cross and Kristin Davis. How are they connected?

Let's see...

Shared Soap - Both Davis (Sex and the City, SATC) and Cross (Desperate Housewives, DH) came from a soap opera called Melrose Place.

Female Friends
- Both got their big break acting in a series consisting of women who are best friends.

Good Girls - Both played the 'proper' and 'ladylike' roles in their respective series. (Charlotte was the hopeless romantic, "I believe in true love" chick among three other modern women in SATC. Bree was the OCD Stepford wife of Wisteria Lane in DH)

The Husband - In SATC and DH, Kyle McLachlan played the role of husband to both the actresses. Kyle played the husband (then they went separate ways) of Kristin's Charlotte in SATC. He then played the husband (then they went separate ways, for now) of Marcia's Bree in DH.

Mama mia! - In both series, the mother of both Kyle's characters gave a hard time to both his wives. Charlotte had a problem with McDougal's mom when it comes to inheritance matter. Bree on the other hand suffered the psychotic mama Hodge during her early days when she married Orson.

Got anything to add? Drop me an email.

Funny Fey and the Rest

Love these ladies (Sykes' Oracle for the Matrix spoof still lingers)... I dig the pop culture mockery... awesome!

Bravo to Bravotv for scoring a deal to feature the modern fashion icon, SJP on Project Runway. I had a huge shock to see her in that scene after Tim Gunn welcomed the mysterious guest. Wow. Im not a fan of hers, but that was huge. Kind of a letdown to know that she was only there to get the designers to create a look for her Bitten's fall (or was it a/w) collection. But still.

On another note, I applaud Conde Nest Media Group for having the Point of Passion campaign. Its bloody awesome, the campaign. The copies merged well with the pictures. The pictures were shot perfectly (albeit the digital make-up aid) and everything ties strongly... I had an orgasm seeing the whole campaign on the website. Here's some, screencapped straight from their site, pointofpassion.com :

Hell to yeah.

According to ONTD, Beauty and The Geek and Project Runway is coming up as well. Between the two, Geek is what Im looking forward to the most. My dream of having a gender twist on the show became a reality...partly.

In addition of having hot chicas being paired with geeky nerds (nerdy geeks?), CW added in a new pair consisting of a good looking guy and a geeky girl. How exciting can that be? Cant wait. Himbo and girl nerd...coolios. Hopefully the report is true, cus it might be a promo picture or publicity stunt.

Competition among reality tv shows are great! Survivor taking on China, Bravo to come up with a new model search, Geek having this twist...ah, Im sexcited (short for so excited, no?) to see what tricks ANTM and Project Runway have up on their sleeves...

Too bad new shows like Pirate Master (got cancelled midway, wtf!?) and On The Lot took the summer slots. I guess TV networks were taking risk by relying on Burnett's name. I think Lot is good, but I do find myself wanting to fast forward everything when watching it. SYTYCanDance survived though, and is picked up fo another season, so yeay to that. Americas Next Top Producers, although sounds interesting, I just couldnt watch due to time constraints (and the GBs are running out, lol) So that I forego. I dont think its a hit show anyway.

As fake as some shows can be, Im still loving it, solely for its "entertainment" factor. Thats what TV is for. Thats why sometimes I dont really think much of the dramas and whatnot going on. It should be watched without much analyzing. We should just layan...

Reality tv...me loving it, muy mucho!

*I hope MTV will continue Dancelife. The Hills is getting ridiculous...I cant stand seeing rich brats whining about stuff and making dramas out of small things. But like I said, its fun to watch.

I sound like I have no life. Partly true.

A bloody long post y'all!

Screw "Trading Spaces" (or House Wars for that matter)
*House Wars was a TV show that consist of families fighting, by designing different spaces every week and ugly design will get the boot. It also consist of sexy blonde triplets. Dahm's their surname. Go Google if you're curios.

WooHoo! Interior designers, me and y’all have something to look forward to!

BRAVOtv, the famous cable that produced top shows like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Project Runway, came out with another design-y rat-race-for-the-coveted-title-of-whatever show, simply named Top Design.

Simply put, it’s Project Runway, but for interior decorators / designers.

Screw the simplicity of the name as the colors (literally and non) of the show will make up for it.

More on the show:
Off the heels of the critically acclaimed “Top Chef” and the Emmy-nominated hit “Project Runway,” Bravo's newest reality competition series “Top Design” offers a behind the scenes look at the creative, competitive and client-driven interior design business at the highest level.

The series features twelve aspiring interior designers who are united in their quest to create the “Top Design” in each episode in the series as they vie for cash to start their own design firm and a spot in one of New York's finest designer showcases. Production, which begins this month, will take place in Los Angeles.

“This highly anticipated newseries puts the spotlight on interior design,” said Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President, Programming and Production, Bravo. “Los Angeles is an exciting and colorful backdrop that will give our competing interior designers the chance to utilize all the city has to offer, while giving viewers a peek inside their creative and challenging world.”

In “Top Design,” high pressure, eccentric personalities and creative egos combine to fuel the next big hit in competition reality. Aspiring and professional interior design contestants will converge and compete in a series of challenges to create the “Top Design” while living in a decked-out studio loft as they are inspired and critiqued by professionals who are leaders in their chosen field.

I hope that this new show will not be a failure *coughs*Queer Eye for the Straight Girl *coughs*coughs*NBC’s short-lived Apprentice: Martha Stewart*

Ooh yeah, Martha’s Apprentice, kind of forgot about that. Ah well…her version was OKAY and slightly less aggressive compared to Trump but still I love em both…(the shows) hers was more creative-driven compared to Trump’s.

Trumpin' A New Thing

I’ve been watching the show (Trump’s) religiously from its 1st season all the way to its 3rd. However, by the 4th season I got lesser time watching and finally stop watching the show when the 5th season was aired. I was too busy with college that I couldn’t be bothered at all.

After the firing of Carolyn Kepcher, hiring in his daughter to be on the show, moving the destination to L.A., casting wannabes ranging from 25 to 37 and also having new strategies for the show (loser stay outside the mansion), I seriously can’t wait to watch the new season…

More on the show:

This season’s Apprentice cast ranges in age from 24-37. Two major twists you can expect this season: Each week, the winning team will live in a mansion, while the losing team sleeps in the back yard of the mansion in tents, with outdoor showers and port-a-potties. To shake things up even more, the winning project manager each week will remain project manager until they lose, plus they will also sit in the boardroom and help advise Donald Trump on who he should fire each week from their opposing team.

I do notice how Burnett works though; through the changes he did for this season (especially the losers staying out while winner enjoys the stay…that is so Survivor-like, Exile Island-wise). On the other hand, moving the location from New York to L.A. reminded me so much on the transition that Tyra Banks and Co did for America’s Next Top Model, during season 4 onwards…(Can’t you go back to NY?)

Trying to Top the Past

The show was great but after the 3rd season, they moved to L.A. I sort of feel that the show lost that magic though…and firing Janice Dickinson made the show a bore…but Twiggy was aight. Still, I watch em with full interest.

I mean the best part of the show: photoshoot part, what else…but over time…the show's getting boring and the photos seem so fake! Too much Photoshop work sucks. If only they have shoots like Australia’s version, that would be cool and slightly credible. Looking back, I feel like it’s getting from high fashion to fake looking trash.

Then again, I learned a lot on editing pictures and shooting and lighting and stuff from watching it so yeah…it’s fine I guess…

The 7th cycle just ended and I’m happy because I like the winner. That’s all. Ngek ngek.

Enough TV talk…I’m going to watch some…

Excited,
Ibster, the remote hogger.

Spoofs Rock!

Bloody hell, I busied myself by wasting my time at youtube too much. it's fun though, since I don't watch TV that much.

Cool Klum impersonation.

The real show is awesome. It really is a social experiment instead of a typical game. Can't wait to see who wins. But this is too stereotypical. Funny nonetheless.

Ooh, and Beauty and the Geek 3 will air soon....around January...can't wait for that either.

Potatoe of the seat,
Ibster
